A summer in the Basque Country.
July-August, barefoot in the sand, the scent of wax and sunscreen, fingertips wrinkled from the salty water. Olatua carries the naïveté of adolescence, marked by the impatience for the next summer. It’s the feeling of those trapped in this wonderful place where others come on vacation but never stay. Olatua is a concentrate of suspended memories. The memories of a brief story, with no future but unforgettable. Those of a wave of overwhelming euphoria that recedes in September, as if nothing had ever existed. It sticks to the skin, its trail lingers. Yet, one must turn the page. Though innocence fades with the passing summers, Olatua allows one not to forget, to be reminded by the wave.

"The iconic American surf documentary `The Endless Summer` (1966) and The Beach Boys sparked off an entire movement of good vibrations in California during the 1960s. Once the privilege of Hawaiian royalty, surfing today is more than riding waves: it’s a lifestyle. Recently, professional big wave surfer Nic Von Rupp invited me to encounter the ambiance of his native Nazaré , a coastal town situated on the Atlantic Ocean in Portugal. With its beautiful raw rock formations, magnificent swells, and air characterised by salty sea winds, it made a profound impact on me. Atlântico EdP by 19-69 is inspired by the renowned coordinates 308° NWN, famed for its towering waves near Nazaré ́s coast."
