Chinatown Market is a LA-based street wear brand, founded by a rising star of street fashion world, Mike Cherman. The brand is response to the market, Cherman’s answer what the customers want, and what they think is cool. As the main designer behind the brand, he wants to create more of a community, than boy’s club, and he wants to build diversity to the industry by hiring as many types off people as possible.
Now Chinatown Market joins forces with the industry legend, PUMA, to create completely new collaborative collection. The collection brings retro basketball style to the present time, with daring attitude and DIY feel. The collection brings out unique sneakers, which are the real eye-compilers of any outfit. The collection also includes a colourful basketball, with Chinatown Market's signature smiley face.

“The ‘peace and love sign’ was designed in the 1950s by Gerald Holtom and was along with the peace hand sign adopted by anti-war activists during the 1970s. The name 19-69 stands for just this: freedom, tolerance and counterculture. The scent Chinese Tobacco by 19-69 is also a reminiscence of a visit I made to a restaurant in Kuala Terengganu. It was late at night, the air was filled with wonderful aromas from the kitchen area, while a group of men was smoking and playing cards."

Spring ⁄ Summer 2015 draws inspiration from The Desert Boneyard in Arizona, a nirvana for the creed of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Chronic is a term for cannabis and also alludes to the debut album by Dr. Dre. 'The Chronic' was released in 1992, the same year as the L.A riots.”
