felicity-marshall-x-soft-gallery-launch-june-6

Soft Gallery is introducing the pre-fall capsule collection made in collaboration with the London-based illustrator, Felicity Marshall. A gender-neutral capsule that conveys Far East symbols and beyond, in anticipation to OPTIMISM, the AW18 collection.

LAUNCHING JUNE 6 @11AM CET

"Given the Oriental inspiration and the overall optimistic theme of the AW18 collection, it was only natural for us to think of Felicity. We hoped this could be interesting for her too, and we are over-the-top that she has accepted to work with us on this project.” says Barbara Hvidt, co-founder of the brand.

For this special collaboration with Soft Gallery, Felicity has mainly drawn her inspiration from the Far East culture. In her own, bespoke way, she is re-creating oriental symbols and combines them with non-oriental elements in an abstract, yet perfect symbiosis of colors, lines and shapes. Impossible turned possible - the collection conveys an abundance of optimism and free vivid spirit.

“I feel the four amazing artworks Felicity has created for Soft Gallery have both a classic and modern feel. I love the way she takes classic oriental motives to a new level with a Memphis style twist. The color palette of lemon yellow, teal, lilac and soft pink alongside with the primary colors are refreshing and cheerful.” says Barbara.

Felicity Marshall’s illustrations are printed on t-shirts, sweaters and tote bags. The collection differs from the traditional Soft Gallery size and runs on sizes 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 & 14y.

The capsule will be exclusively launched on the 6th of June online and in store with Storm.

FORAGE WITH MILLER HARRIS

From the city's rooftop to the hidden, lush green spaces of the capital, London perfumers Miller Harris have scoured the furthest reaches and hidden enclaves in the urban landscape to bring together HIDDEN (on the Rooftops), LOST (in the City) and WANDER (through the Parks), three innovative and highly evocative fragrances inspired by the concept of urban foraging. Foraging, or the gathering of wild food, has been essential throughout human existence and has enjoyed a resurgence of interest over recent years with the rise of the creative foodie movement. In the countryside, the wealth of wild ingredient is obvious, however, if one knows where to look, there are hidden treasures to be discovered in the city too...

Miller Harris' perfumers set out on a mission to create fragrances inspired by ingredients which can be discovered growing wild in London and this initial series of three fragrances are their interpretations. The starting points of a wider range of urban foraging-inspired scents, each of these perfumes presents a dynamic contrast between nature and the built environment and also examines the ways in which the two creatively co-exist. Just as the city sends tendrils ever further into Nature, so Nature surges back through the urban sprawl, pushing up through concrete cracks and finding unexpected oases in which to prosper, pulse and propagate. Strong, deep roots impel the pavement flower. Honey is made at rooftop apiaries. Wild fruits ripen behind locked gates, in parkland shadows, just over there...

In keeping with Miller Harris’ environmental principles, the packaging uses sustainable or recycled materials in surprising new ways, teaming up with Smile Plastics, whose unique composites are made from waste materials, from bottle tops to yoghurt pots, to create distinctive and beautiful fragrance holders which can be reused as keepsake boxes.

elevator-music

Elevator Music

Elevator Music is a collaborative project by Byredo’s Ben Gorham and Off-White’s Virgil Abloh. The capsule collection consists of fragrance, denim, t-shirts and bags all housed in an installation by an artist that Ben and Virgil both admire to be presented to press in Paris on March 3rd 2018.

The capsule collection titled “Elevator Music” refers to various styles of soundscapes meant for passive listening and explores the relationship of luxury products and human perception. The project attempts to define the least amount of information needed to understand a product context and background, in this case objects we define as luxury goods.

The studies of Swedish scientist Gunnar Johansson who in the 70’s defined frame work regarding human movement perception and the notion “elevator syndrome” were the foundation for the 2004 installation by artist Carsten Ho?ller. The presentation will feature a new itera- tion of this 2004 work titled “The Elevator”.

“I have known Virgil even before the inception of Off-White so it’s great to be able to finally realize a project together within our respective brands. We have always shared a common understanding that relevance is everything, and that the rules of our industry need to be somehow rewritten.” — Ben Gorham, founder and creative director of BYREDO

“Ben Gorham is one of my longest friends in the fashion industry. We share a common interest of progression. The concept of our collaboration “Elevator Music”
was to define emotion with the least amount of effects. Much like literal elevator music we wanted the scent to play a background to one’s life.” — Virgil Abloh, founder and creative director of Off-White

The label of Lou Dalton was founded in 2005 and she worked as a design consultant with clients like Hamish Morrow, UNITED ARROWS and Stone Island, before launching her own label. Dalton's collections have often been inspired by the men in her life: her father and her partner. Coupled with her Shropshire roots, this ensures Dalton’s collections continually remain grounded in wearable menswear, while pulling on a variety of intriguing curveball influences, from Apollo missions to caravan dwelling farmhands to Texas oil barons to Scorcese’s "Taxi Driver".

adidas-x-oyster-holdings

adidas x Oyster Holdings

adidas Originals presents a brand new collaboration this month, teaming up with Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand Oyster Holdings to create a collection of premium sportswear and footwear built for travel.

Developing the elevated simplicity of adidas Originals’ XBYO line, the collaboration brings Oyster Holdings’ central mantra, “Traveling is a Sport”, to the forefront of the design process. In apparel, this manifests as premium, understated takes on classic adidas silhouettes, with subtle tweaks designed to make life in transit more seamless.

Most notably, the classic adidas Track Top, Full Zip hoodie and Crewneck sweatshirt are remade in a premium French terry cloth, with subtle adjustments to their silhouettes and gold metallic zippers on the pockets to keep valuables secure. This is then complemented by premium sweatpants for men and women, featuring the same premium construction and attention to detail, while an XBYO t-shirt with its unique paneled construction rounds out the apparel offer to create a comprehensive luxury travel collection.

As always, apparel is then countered with a number of collaborative footwear models, presented in a similar soft, pastel color palette. The retro Handball Top silhouette steps out in a premium suede construction with leather panel overlays offset by a translucent chalk rubber outsole, offered in Ash Blue/Chalk Coral and Easy Yellow/Ash Blue colorways. The collection breaks away from end of winter with a refreshing colour palette made for the journey into spring.

Alongside the Handball Top, the adidas 350 model assumes a simpler, tonal aesthetic constructed from premium nubuck leather with textile 3-stripes, rendered in Trace Scarlet or Ash Pearl across the upper with a contrast chalk rubber outsole. Each shoe is designed to perfectly blend with apparel, allowing the wearer to mix and blend to create the ultimate outfit for life on the move. The result is a new expression of classic adidas design language, creating the ultimate wardrobe for life in motion.

424 is back with a lookbook shot by none other than Adam Katz Sinding (@le21eme)

For their SS18 season, the LA label hits hard with loads of custom bandana prints, but more noticeably, a wide array of diverted news channel logos, with amongst them CBS, CNN, NBC and the infamous FOX News.

A now more than ever relevant take on today's America, and as Guillermo Andrade says himself, a way to re-appropriate enduring symbols of the Americana spirit he has grown up around.
