Seductive incense entangled with vegetal roots. Ardent woods set boldly aflame. Resinous depth illuminated by beetroot brights. A ceremonial clash of contrasts. A radical revelation of blazing harmonies.
BRIGHT: Crushed clusters of spicy sweet pink peppercorns. The enlightening intensity of Indonesian ginger. A luminous layer. FRESH: Earthen emissions from fresh sliced beetroot. Egyptian Geranium leaves, minty and metallic. Grounded wonder. DEEP: The resinous romance of sticky incense. Woody patchouli dosed with the aromatic amber of cistus. A sacred sensuality.
Through deliberate overdose and rapturous expression, ROUGE presents an unexpected unison. An olfactive congregation of desire.
The archetypal associations of the colour ROUGE seen and subverted through the distinctly disruptive gaze of Comme des Garçons.
Papier Carbone is a work on memory. It evokes the paper our teachers used to use at school, the wood of library and the liquorice we loved as children.
Inspired by the history of the theatre mixed with the modernity of its new creative director Ruth Mackenzie. In other words, past and future have an olfactory dialogue on the velvet seats of the Parisian landmark in the tradition of Comme des Garçons anti-perfumes.
Perfumer Caroline Dumur brings this intricate scent to life with a blend of ambrette absolute, black pepper oil, rose oxyd, coffee accord, orange blossom, orris concrete, cashmeran, cedarwood virgina and musk.
The second anti perfume. A deeping of the research into solid phase micro technology cloning inorganic smells from modern daily life and mixing them with natural ingredients. Inspired by the smell of dust on a Hot Light-Bulb, Warm Photocopier Toner, Hot Metal, A Toaster, Freshly Welded Aluminium, The Ink in a Fountain Pen, Fresh Pencil Shavings, Wood and Moss, Bay Leaves and Bamboo, White Pepper, Hyacinth and Lettuce Juice.
An abstract anti perfume. The latest technology is used to clone odours from inorganic materials. Smells never before used, with no precise name only abstract ideas. The fragrance is inspired by the Freshness of Oxygen, Flaming Rock, Freshly Mowed Grass, Wash Drying in the Wind, Sand Dunes, Pure Air of the High Mountains, Flash of Metal, Nail Polish.
The famous Swiss naturalist Conrad Gessner is considered the founder of mod- ern zoology, but as a true 16th century scientist he was also: a prominent physician, botanist, linguist and — of course — spelunking adventurer. In his ‘Descriptio Montis Fracti sive Montis Pilati’ from 1555, he chronicles his climb to the summit of Mount Pilatus, but we also get to follow him into the caves of the Alps. ‘At night, the moon shines into the cave so brightly the light itself seems to take form, like a mist. It gathers in the ceiling and makes the limestone stalactites glitter and gleam, dripping tears of white liquid into puddles on the rock floor that never dries. Moonmilk.’
Today, moonmilk still exists in caves all over the world, with the largest formations being found in Arizona, but the theory of it being produced by the rays of the moon has lost some of its popularity.
The holy smell of sandalwood is present throughout the entire lifespan of the perfume. The top notes are coupled with fresh lime and dry black tea, while spices and lily of the valley bolster the heart of the fragrance. As the per- fume dries down, the sandalwood remains dominant, with a supportive note of light leather.
Top notes: Black tea, lime
Heart notes: Cardamom, lily-of-the-valley, mandarin, black pepper
Base notes: Sandalwood, tan leather
